Guidelines for Authors

A Scholarly, Blind Peer Reviewed, Bi-Annual, Open Access, Online Research Journal
Before submitting their submissions, authors are expected to rigorously adhere to and fully understand the implications of the following guidelines:

Westford Research Journal (WRJ) Submission Guidelines

 

1 : Editorial Decisions
Authors must accept the editorial decision either before, during or after the peer-review process. WRJ maintains the right to provide explanations for its decisions when necessary.
2 : Duplicate Publication
Manuscripts submitted to WRJ must not have been published by any other publisher, with or without an ISSN/ISBN, before submission.
3 : Simultaneous Submission
Manuscripts must not be submitted to another journal for publication until WRJ has made a final decision regarding the submission.
4 : Text Originality
All manuscripts must be free of plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or copied expressions. The work must represent original research and maintain academic integrity.
5 : Manuscript Findings
The findings presented in the manuscript must be based on legal and humane studies or data that have been collected legally. If the manuscript involves potentially harmful subjects, this must be explicitly stated. Additionally, if animals or human volunteers are involved, an appropriate ethical statement must be included.
6 : Disclosure of Raw Data
Upon request by the Editor-in-Chief during the peer-review process, authors must promptly disclose raw data and other sources used in the manuscript. Authors must agree to publish the data alongside the paper if required.
7 : Authorship Criteria
To be considered an author, a person must meet the following criteria:
(a) (a) Made a significant contribution to the manuscript’s framework, model, concept, literature review, data collection, sampling, analysis, findings, conclusions, or recommendations.
(b) Drafted or revised the manuscript during the peer-review process.
(c) Approved the final version of the manuscript after peer review.
(d) Expressed consent for the publication of the manuscript.
8 : Corresponding Author Responsibilities
The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors meet the authorship criteria and are aware of the submission.
9 : Manuscript Formatting Requirements
Manuscripts must be submitted in A4 size, double-spaced, with a Times New Roman font size of 12. All manuscripts must be in a format compatible with MS Word. The length of research papers, including exhibits and references, should be between 4000 and 5000 words.
10 : Paper Structure
The structure of the paper should follow this suggestive format:

  • Introduction
  •  Literature Review
  • Methodology/Approach
  • Findings/Results
  • Conclusion/Implications
  • Recommendations (if applicable)
  •  Acknowledgements (if applicable)
  •  References
  • Appendices (if applicable)
  • Tables/Figures (embedded appropriately within the text)
11 : Headings and Subheadings
Headings and subheadings should be short, numbered, and presented in title case, with the first letter of each word capitalized and in bold.
12 : Figures and Diagrams
Figures, diagrams, and graphs must be in an editable format and consecutively numbered. The source reference must be indicated at the bottom of each figure or diagram. Figures should have relevant titles and should be visible, readable, and monochromatic. Pictures of tables and figures should be avoided.
13 : Tables
Tables must be in an editable format and consecutively numbered, with titles placed above them. The source reference must be indicated at the bottom of each table. Tables should not duplicate information from graphs, and minimal descriptive text should be used in graphs and drawings.
14 : Use of Copyrighted Material
For the use of copyrighted materials from other sources, authors must obtain and provide authentic permission.
15 : References
References must be included at the end of the manuscript in alphabetical order and must follow the American Psychological Association (APA) seventh-edition style guide.
16 : Language and Usage
The manuscript must be written in English. Both American and British usage are accepted, but the manuscript should not mix the two.
17 : Peer-Review Process
All submissions will be subject to a double-blind peer-review process and must meet the scientific criteria expected by the journal.
18 : Originality and Unpublished Work
Manuscripts must report original and previously unpublished results, regardless of the type of submission (Research Paper/Book Chapter/Case Study).

Referencing

All papers must cite sources using either APA or Harvard referencing styles. Below are examples of each:
